non rotating \"swivel button\"

I really like the combination of swivel clip and those brass buttons, because they give me the ability to carry several items on the same clip and change them fast and easily. On the other hand I have several items which I don't want to rotate on my belt. So I thought about having a different style of button for those clips.
They could look like this:

They should fit into the clip but because of not being round they wouldn't rotate in it.
How do others think about this idea? If there is a demand maybe we could see a few of those appearing at the shop, or one of us with machining skills could do a limited run.

Re: non rotating \"swivel button\"

The way to accomplish this and still have the lock work would be to have a larger minor diameter on the tab that has milled "flats" on it so it can only feed into the clip on one or possibly two (square minor) orientations. The tab would be difficult to mount in some applications and maintain the desired orientation. SInce it would not rotate, the clip could also act like a wrench and possibly loosen the tab depending on the force applied to the mounted device. There are some tab and clip asemblies which have detents and a stop pin arraingment that allow for "fixing" the position. Depending on the device you are carrying, it is also concieveable that you could mount a second tab which would follow the first into the clip.

Well, I know that this would be very special, but why not make minor and major square or rectangular and mount it to the device with two screws? This way the problem of a loosening of the tab could be avoided. For me, two orientations to insert the tab would be enough, but I still don't know if anyone else would like to have some of those parts.

Since the bottom of the clips channel is radiused, a square major would posibly serve as a cam and rotational loads would want to lift the tab up from the locked position I would think. Two fasteners would certainly secure the tab in a fixed position. If you are willing to go to two fasteners, perhaps a second tab or locating pin (no major to be captive) would suffice?

Re: non rotating \"swivel button\"

I'm sorry I didn't answer about a second tab in my last post. This could certainly be a way to go, but it would be a bit harder to achieve a proper allignment on the device that is to be mounted.
I will try and find something that can be used as locating pin, but perhaps you could have some machined and add them to the shop?
What I have in mind are kydex sheets for various items such as darts, flashlights, knives. Since I dont't like tekloks too much I'm looking for another solution and I definitly don't want my darts to hang upside down on my belt while in a game.
