Noob question.. Why Eneloops?

I find it hard to think a battery could be better than the GP Recyko or Uniross Hybrio's I use.
But Eneloops have that reputation. Tests I have read show the GP to be the equal in most things, long term durability is hard to test though.

To other South Africans out there,
Just avoid the uniross ones like the plague in future. They have changed to a really bad 1600mAh version and kept the labels pretty much the same, you have no clue what you are buying any more.

I just bought a few from a small shop across the road (old stock) and they are still at 1.3v on purchase and the Maha shows 2050 on analysing.
I'm going to buy the whole rack !



An example of the cells labeled 2500 and 2700mAh , the end up giving barely 1900-2000mAh at any reasonable draw levels, some really low quality "Eveready 2500" are giving me 1700mAh when drained at 500mAh.
Proper Hybrio's and Recyko's give over 2000 consistently.

Energiser 2450mAh seem to be good for use on the day after you charge them. I use these for my digital cameras when I know I am taking photos the next day. Constantly giving 2300+ on the analyser on high drain measurements.

Where's the best place to purchase sanyo eneloops?

I'll happily shill for Thomas Distributing, here! ;) I've always been very pleased with their service, and they carry both Eneloops and Maha chargers. http://www.thomasdistributing.com

For a while, I was able to find Eneloops at Circuit City, but they stopped carrying them... and then they just stopped. I hear they're back, but haven't been in one. I haven't found a "brick & mortar" source in Fort Worth, though I haven't been in Costco.

Amazon carries them as well.

I got my first set of Eneloops at a circuit city closing sale. And I recently lost them on campus! So I'm looking for more, and a decent charger...they were much better than the energizer chargies.

Where's the best place to purchase sanyo eneloops? My local costco had a bundle pack, but its all gone now. Any suggestions.:)

You can occasionally find white-top Duraloops on sale in stores for a good price. I picked some up at Von's (aka Safeway) for about $8/pack. It must have been a clearance price as they don't cary any pre-charged Duracells anymore.

CVS has Duraloops for about $16/pack...there are some at the store across the street from me and I'm just waiting for them to go on sale. ;)

The only B&M store I've seen carrying Eneloops is Fry's. So if you want Eneloops, it seems like online retailers are the way to go.

I haven't seen an open CC around here, but their website says "Yes, we're... OPEN" http://www.circuitcity.com :shrug: New ownership, I guess. I still don't see any Eneloops at their site, so unless I find them at Fry's, I'll stick to Thomas Distributing.

Our Target carries the white top duraloops. Just picked some up this week.
