I went to see one of my partners today and I was given this flashlight. Considering the ten 5mm LEDs its pretty bright with two settings one for three LEDs and one for all ten. Application of these setting is done by pushing the on, on, off switch, push once three LEDs illuminate push again and ten LEDs illuminate, once more and the flashlight turns off. That plastic cartridge only feeds into the cylinder in one direction but it looks as though the 4AA batteries could be put in the wrong direction if not paying attention.
Kind of funny that the beam seems to clear up a little without the reflector as the head on the flashlight unscrews and the reflector falls right out. Not much thread space for focusing optics but they might work. Kind of a manly looking flashlight and it has a nice fit to my hand but I think it needs a little beefing up. That switch has got me curious as to just how much I could load up on it. The inside dia. looks to be from D cell flashlight stock so eight oops six nimhs are not out of the question. The rigging might be a little too tricky to get some 5mms in head with an L/S but then the hotlimps may just fit that bill too. Stupid pressed plastic lens, this could be trouble, dang it! The thread tolerance of the head is a little loose and there isn't a whole lot of aluminum wall thickness only about an eighth, hmmmmm. The five-watt option is not a good idea unless hunting in December in South Dakota without gloves, berererer! looks like a 1 watt application to me.

So anyways, does anybody know anything about this flashlight? I have never seen one like it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Re: What it is?

You know I think your right and I didn't even check the website. BRB

Yep you nailed it! Not a bad item and well built. To bad the minimum buy in is so high, these could make for some awsome mods and as they are they aren't bad.

Something I noticed is Nuwai is going into 1 watt LEDs. I haven't taken a good look yet but one of them looks a lot like Elektrolumens 3X1.5 volt he's making. Time for another look.
Thank you Alan Hsu

On second thought that looks nothing like Elektrolumens little friend /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: What it is?

After closer inspection the AT-100 is not a good platform for a modification. One more tenth of an inch in diameter would have allowed for two 3-To-Ds after some cutting of plastic. The switches plastic housing looks to be glued into place and the circuit board is slid into place after glue is applied to it slots it slides into. This is one of the better rubber switch covers I have seen, it is all but impossible to remove without damaging the rubber button. I do have to say this is a very well constructed flashlight even though the beam clears up a little without the reflector. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif
Its a nice looking flashlight not quite as bright as my EverLed and the beam is pretty blue for white LEDs. It has a good run time as is but I think the three LEDs in the center are going to end up burning out before the rest do because of the way the flashlight is resisted. These LEDs are overdriven. On the three-lamp setting the LEDs are protected by only a 10-ohm resistor and on full brightness level all ten have no resistance to speak of.
If it wasn't for the limited batter capacity I may have continued to work on modding the flashlight but I'm looking for more juice.

Re: What it is?

My Streamlight Septor beam cleans up with the reflector removed, as well. I plan on painting the reflector white.

Also, the Streamlight Propolymer 4AA has a lot of artifacts around the beam, but the circuitry, reflector & LEDs are all one unit, so I'll have to tape off the LEDs before painting that one.
