Hi Guys,
I have asked this before, but other newbies keep hijacking my post. Please somebody, answer which flashlight has better throw? A Longbow (micra?)or the Nuwai Q111. I have seen the throw of a longbow, so I want to compare it to that. I KNOW they are different technologies, but it wont do me any good if you compare it to something that I have not seen.
Newbies, start your own damn post!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Mike Morris

If you are comparing it with a stock Micra, I would say the Q3 has better throw. Also, the Q3 has a 3W luxeon while the micra is a 1Watt luxeon.

I own both lights but my micra has been fitted with a SO17XA reflector and UCL lens. It is now "comparable" to the Q3's throw.

The problem with the Longbow is the LuxI - that limits the amount of light it can output in the first place, and thus kills the throwing ability of the optics; there's just not much light to send out, which means it's useless over anything but a short distance. Replacing that with a LuxIII (such as a McCapsule) or adding a better lens and reflector will improve it substantially.. but that's at least another $15 on top of the $65-85 you paid for the light. Putting in another $95 will guarantee a throw-monster, however. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The Q-III's rather 'inefficient' reflector, at least compared to some, is compensated for by the fact the Q-III's LuxIII IS that much brighter, which means the hotspot is visible from a longer ways out. On top of that, you get quite a bit of spill to illuminate the target, due to the larger corona.

Thanks Guys,
You talked me into it. I'm buying a Q111. I was just having trouble believing that a 40 dollar import could be better than a Longbow (which I think is awesome with fresh batteries).
Newbies, now is your chance to chime in.
