Has anyone successfully replaced/used a brighter bulb in the BD Supernova? Is it true this is a 2.4V bulb? BD says that the Superbright bulb will not work, so it must be a different voltage.

With a Willie Hunt regulator, if a similar voltage bulb can be found that draws more current, would a brighter light be the result? I am thinking of using NiMH AAs to allow the extra current if such is possible. Bottom line is, I'm trying to get the incan on the Supernova to live up to it's name! The stock bulb isn't horrible, but try I must...

Phaserburn, this is a deja-vu thread I think. I have a Supernova and wish it were brighter. I have accepted the fact that it is a medium brightness light. For brighter light, I will use my PT Vortec with lithiums and a Mag 4 cell xenon bulb.

I use the Supernova for close up task lighting. For camping purposes, this is a good choice, but I don't think that it will ever be a high output light. I hope that I am wrong and you will find an answer.

I have emailed BD to find out the specs for this bulb. Why a similar voltage bulb that can draw greater current from NiMH couldn't be found, I don't know. Seems possible, doesn't it? Not ready to accept this yet!

Okay now. BD says the bulb is 3.6V and .5A. There are several bi-pin bulbs available from SL and others that are 3.6V and have a higher current draw. Gotta get some measurements.
