Hey raggie,
I just got this e-mail from John (At LED-replacement.com) about the LT-1:

[ QUOTE ]

The LT-1 is a Nichia 3mm led (so that it fits into
the existing mini-mag reflector.) The LT-1 is not
regulated but has a step-up circuit in the round base.
The runtime in a AA Mini-mag is 10 to 15 hours. The
LT-1 will physically fit in the solitaire but it was
designed to work in the AA and AAA Mini-Mag. Also the
runtime in the Solitaire is going to be shorter
because you are using 1 cell (1.5v) instead of 2 cells
(3.0) volts as in the Mini-Mags. Here is a link to the
data sheet on all the Tektite bulbs
http://www.led-replacement.com/datasheet.html Please
let me know if this answered your questions or if you
need more information.

This might be the cleanest solution to what you're looking for.

You know one thing I have always thought about are luxeons. Wouldnt it be possible to cut the leads off the nichias and solder them onto the luxeon leads? then you can just stick it in cant you? Or maybe with a little modification you can.

once the li-ion aaa batteries come more available this will be semi-possible. You'll not just be able to plug in the luxeon becasue you'll have to figure out some way to manage the heat

Has anyone tried putting an LT-1 into a solitaire?

I dunno... but that's what Jon said. Waiting for confirmation. In the time being, I'm trusting the maker until I get one myself.
