Hello, people, I´m new to this forum so what you think about the new Olight sr96 Intimidator? I´ve read the specs and not a good thrower ("only" 325 m) but 4800 lumens seems ok. Do you think it could be a good alternative to Fénix RC40? Best regards.

It would depend upon what you were going to use it for.

For search work, a floody beam is typically the most useful, as you can see more at a time of what's out there...and its harder for people (Or critters) who didn't WANT to be seen to "Duck when they see the beam sweeping towards them", etc. It also helps to assess the entire situation in one field of view.

For dog walking, hiking, etc...you can actually enjoy the scenery as well as see where you're going w/o tripping, etc.

If you need to see farther than the 200 meters or so it will show you, then it won't work.

Remember that ALL lights use the standard ANSI range to say how far the beams reach...and that is to 0.25 lux. MOST people find that at 0.25 lux, for long ranges, they can see that the beam hit something, barely, but not details of what the beam is on.

Thank you for your answers. So for dog walking, for instance, it´s better not so trowing abilities. But knowing that our flashlight has a great trowing performance is nice.:-) The ideal situation is to have the best of both worlds. Best regards.

Thank you for your answers. Tough decision trowing capabilities vs pratital use. I´m still in a quest for my first good flashlight. Best regards.
