No I am not going to solder. I have an epoxy that has better heat transfer than most solders. Also I am doing something special to the LED itself that would prevent any soldering. The LED is shaved down until there is almost no ceramic backer left so that the heat can escape as quick as possible into the silver. I am going to great lengths to make this light really special. In fact I am working on it right now.

Just FYI if you have not seen it before here is the thread where I proposed the idea and pioneered actually bringing it about. I have been doing testing with the idea since and this will be the most extreme example yet. The risk is high in ruining the hand picked LED but I just can't help myself.

I'm looking at the parts I have been working on today and I must say they are beautiful. At least to me. This light is what I would call "Functional Jewelry". Listen to some of the construction materials. Copper, Nickel, Silver, Gold, Carbon Fiber, and Black Leather. The case will even be a little extra special.

Just a little teaser photo of the almost finished battery holder.

Do you have a tentative release date/estimation of cost? Trying to decide if I should try and get this or just go ahead and pick up a DEFT

Sorry for the late response. Was a busy day today. I have not decided on a final price just yet since it is not completed but think Polarian prices and you probably will not be far off. Not cheap I know but there are hundreds of hours in this light already and there is just nothing else out there like it. It is the top of the line of the top of the line for LED throwers. Originally I had planned on making several different Art Lights a year but it looks like one a year is about all I can manage.

I just realised I never answered your question on the time frame. I am trying my best to have it done by this weekend. After that there will need to be some time to show it to family and friends. I may also be shipping it to be examined by a business partner. After that it will be up officially for sale.
