As I was getting out of my truck last night, I dropped 4 of my spare surefire batteries on the ground. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal but it was absolutely pouring out. 3 of them I found right away, but the last one stayed in the rain for a half hour or so. I dried them all off and haven't tried them yet. Are they still safe to use?

Hey bud, take care with it. Lithium is reactive to water, that is because they came in a sealed cell.
I'm no expert, but I would throw all of them out.

If you need to use them (I would) But are worried, I would remove the O-ring on the light making it not have an airtight seal while using the lights with these batteries. So incase it fails it will not build up pressure and explode rather flameout and you can just put the light somewhere safe. If it does go bad.

I wouldn't have any worries about that. If they are dry and look undamaged, they are fine. If you left one outside for a week it would be a different story.

Hello Matt o,

The first think you need to do is check them over to make sure there is no signs of damage.

Next, leave them out to dry off.

After that if there is no sign of damage or the cells don't bulge up, use them as you would normally.

I have had a number of CR123 cells get wet during various camping trips and have not had a single one go bad. That doesn't mean that something can go wrong, but just that it is very unlikely.

Tom
