I'm not sure if CPF is the appropriate forum for this, but it's the only forum I frequent with non-US members who's opinions I would trust.

I just saw Michael Moore's new movie SiCKO and wanted to get some input from CPF's non-US members about some of the evidence he provided to support his statements. I'd like to take the movie at face value, but the blatent and obviously biased presentation of his points forces me to seek confirmation. His transparent manipulation of the audiences emotions to elicit sympathy can get kind of annoying, but I agree for the most part that we are not running our healthcare system well and that it needs to change.

Basically, he presents socialized healthcare as the only way to go. I've lived my whole life in the US and have never been exposed to foreign health care systems, so I am not in a position to make judgements.

So, for people living in the countries presented as having excellent, socialized, medical care (Canada, UK, France) what is your opinion of your healthcare system. Are you satisfied with the quality of care, timeliness of service, availability of diagnostics (MRI, etc.) availability of expensive procedures? Have you ever worried about not having access to appropriate medical care? If you've seen SiCKO, how do you feel about the way your country's health care system is presented? Is it accuarate ('cause he makes them seem, awfully nice)?

The Underground is the place to discuss Michael Moore's movie. Thread closed.
