Original ARC LS, modded?

I have one of these that I picked up on ebay several years ago. I suspect that it's possibly modded - as I remember there's an internal switch to give two modes. The light might have been modded? I have a dim memory that it might have been made just after Arc folded, and/or from some casing components that were cosmetic seconds. There's a single Cr123 battery compartment and another for 2xAA.

It was a great light for its time, although I hardly ever used it. I was wondering if anyone knows who did the mod and whether he's around here, in which case "Hi! Nice work!"

If anyone seriously collects older, "interesting" lights, I'd probably be willing to sell/swap. If someone gives me an idea of what's a reasonable price, I can put it up on the Marketplace.

are your refering to the Arc LS kit with the dark HAIII bezel head, slightly goldish body, and bare aluminum twisty.

if yes, then these were Arc parts bought by someone who installed his own board with 200mA/400mA current that could be changed by a tiny switch on the board.
i remember purchasing a couple and they were very nice and bright for the time and the board was very efficient. iirc, they went for ~$50.

the same person started pierce light, which was around for a short while.
the Pierce light was also a good light and was/is one of the smallest cr123 lights.

i don't remember the light coming with a 2xAA tube though..

And here are pictures:

The slight brown stain some sort of manufacturing tarnish I never bothered polishing off.

I don't know if that "first run" is significant - did the original LS manage to get through more than one?
