I am just now gettig into the whole flashlight thing (leds only at this point).

I was wondering what other hobbies folks have that haunt this board?

I have found a number of interstig hobbies when someone suggests that it is intersting.....i.e. I had a short crash filled stint with electric radio airplanes....

Thanks,
Bob

Knives, especially Chris Reeve knives. Guns, collecting and shooting, especially Single Action Colts. Pens, especially Montblancs. Photography. Mechanical watches, especially Rolexes and Omegas. Computers. Flying light planes.

well lets see other than flashlights we've got knives, pens, watches, general gadgets and gear, cars and yeah i guess that handles most of it.

Besides LEDs, flashlights, and light bulbs, I collect glass power & telephone insulators, do a bit of entomology (bug observing and occasional collecting), watching Digimon, and being an all-weather Seattle Mariners fan.

Well, let's see....other hobbies.....HAM radio, storm chasing and RC electric model air planes.

Hey Brock thats a cool picture

Which digital camera did you use ?

I took that shot with a Kodak 4800 (3.1 megpixel), but now I have a Minolta Diamge 7 (4.9 megpixel). I take about 100 to 105 shot a storm, and usually get about 10 shots with something in them, then maybe one or two of them is any good.

snif snif...can't see the image, I've been reduced to a [gasp]
text broweser, i'll have to look later...
Anyway, by stagecrt I meant everything.
I've done plenty of construction, but my fav.s are
Light and Sound. Light is probably my absolute fav

but I am dang good at sound (Something about good ears or something...)
So I am usually stuck doing that.

Hmmm, flashlights (new and vintage), knives, firearms and shooting, mountain biking, Volkswagens...

Have a couple of cameras, but don't take too many photos, not in a true "hobbyist" sense anyways.

That's about it for now.

Going off topic (good thing were in café)

Hey DonL since you mentioned VW what do you think of the Jetta Diesels? We are seriously considering the Jetta wagon Diesel. Darell isn't here to tell me about emissions on it, but do you have any thoughts or insights?

I am about to open up a european car thread i think I am in persuit of a good european wagon for the money I think my bet is on a used VW or a Volvo. Want something to wrap the 2 kids up in that is safe. I think that volvo takes the cake. I don't think that Darell will have much bad to say about that as he had a Volvo v70 at one time. what do yall think.

The TDI diesels are phenomenal engines. More horses and torque than the average driver will ever need. Almost out accelates my Surburban at highway speeds in 5th gear unless i drop the burban down into "passing" gear the TDI are amazingly clean burning engines and as long as the fuel is good quality there is no visible smoke in the exaust.

Hi Bushman,
I'm not sure if we are talking about the same cars, but the VW "Passat" wagon TDI is a great car. my brother in law ownes one , and my other brother in law, a car mechanic, has the sedan TDI... They both know their way around cars, and if they drive one, I'm pretty sure they are very good cars...

On the other hand, an American friend of mine used to own a Volvo wagon, and wasn't too pleased with it... Having driven that car, I can't disagree...

so, maybe I'm biased, but imho, the VW has the better papers.
I don't know about American pricing though...
