would there be any advantage to using a 2cell 3watt mag drop in in a 3cell (c) light or would it fry the module?

Most likely fry it. Even if it did work, it would not be brighter. If you want bright, make a ROP, easily 10x brighter then your setup, in fact, I tested it outside, lit trees up at 200ft. The MagLed? nope, cant see it.
