Re: P.K.\'s site...

It's nice to see photos back on PK's site. It brings back memories of the past.

No comment on the photo, I think Ginseng pretty much summed it up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: P.K.\'s site...

Wasn't the CE rating a holdup for the KL4? I don't remember for sure, but it seemed like the prototypes didn't have the CE logo on them until the certification was finished.

The magazine picture lower on the page doesn't seem to have the logo for the KL5 and the logo next to the CE on the top pictures is missing from all of them (as far as I can tell). I think that getting the ratings done indicates a pretty late stage in the process, because any significant changes would probably require re-certification. Of course it's possible that the engraving is just done in anticipation of the real thing, but even then it seems unlikely on a prototype.

I'd say those pictures suggest that these beasts (with a small "b") are pretty close to production. Pure speculation of course...

Re: P.K.\'s site...

I don't know. I guess a reflector has to be either deeper or wider. I personally prefer deeper. It seems easier to carry. I know a combination of deeper and wider is best, (as we see in the M3T) but being the same diameter as the body, but longer seems much more conducive to EDC. I guess only time will tell. I can't comfortably carry a M3T, but I bet I will be able to carry the KL5 & KL6.

Re: P.K.\'s site...

The KL heads look cartoonish and out of proportion in the new middle pic. I think its just a bad picture. They look far better in the bottom picture.

However, I'm laughing out loud at the thought of a KL5 w/E2C on an E series or UBH...

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gifDarell, you kill me.

Your head also looks cartoonish and out of proportion in this pic.

Re: P.K.\'s site...

I'm pretty sure that the problem lies in the wide-angle lens that was used... for both pics. As anybody who knows me well will tell you, I actually have somewhat of a pin head.

Re: P.K.\'s site...

So... about that reflector depth. Seems that it would control the side-spill without as much bulky width associated with the "turbo" style heads. Don't ya think?

For a given beam control, would you rather add length or width to your light?

Have I managed to change the subject?... I hope.

Re: P.K.\'s site...

Hey guys,

I understand that Darellina (is that it's name?) will be modeling the latest in SF tactical garments on PK's site! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

And Al and Brock, don't you read cover letters? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twakfl.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/whoopin.gif Darell does. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: P.K.\'s site...

Don,
Read the instructions?!
I'm saving those for the day when I've run out of batteries.
You're gonna expect me to ask for directions next!!

Re: P.K.\'s site...

Well I just joined the ranks of those unlikely to run out of CR123s anytime soon...ordered a half gross from SF tonight. <gulp>

I'd love to see what kind of beam that "beer can" puts out. It's not going to make an E2 beam out of a 5W LED in an A2 size head, but represents important research in that direction.

Re: P.K.\'s site...

What I was trying to say is exactly what Darla said. I would prefer a longer reflector to a wider reflector. That is I would prefer a light the same diameter as the body, but an inch longer to a light an inch shorter, but with a 2 inch wide head.
