Is anyone able to tell me how these 2 compare used in a SF G2? I'm aware the P60 has a lightput of 65 lumens & the P61 120 lumens, but just want to know how the P61 differs, as far as throw/brightness, centre spot size, sidespill goes etc etc ??

You really need to experience the difference yourself to decide whether the P61 is worth it. I personally only use the P61. The central beam is larger, bright and whiter, and the surround beam is brighter too. I find it allows me to see more, more quickly. The throw is not that significantly different to my eyes.

Do you have a G2 at the moment?

Thanks Al! Yes I do have a G2 at the mo & was just weighing up wether to give the P61 a shot, I'm aware off the battery runtime difference & am not to worried thanks to Battery Station shipping to the UK.

^What Al said...Also, (in my 6P at least) the P61 seems to heat up the flashlight body & lens much more quickly. And as you probably know, it eats batteries 3x as fast - so if you do start using P61 regularly, make sure you have good supply of spares. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I was also wondering about the heat produced - can the Lexan lens of a G2 stand up to 20mins of continous use if required?

A member posted that his G2 or G2Z experienced thermal shutdown of it's batteries, after about 9-11 minutes of use with the P61. Can't remember the exact model or runtime.

I seem to recall reading that, I wonder how long before they cool down enough to work again?! I know in my SFM6 those 123's can literally get too hot to hold but have never thermally shutdown.

I believe you guys are talking about this thread. It's the last post on the thread by pjandyho on his experience on using the P61 on his G2Z, hope it helps.

thanks suppin. after reading that it appears once thermal shutdown occours those 123's might just be ready for the bin?!

I've never experienced a thermal shutdown with any other lamp then the N62. I always managed to get at least two shutdowns out of each set... Gotta let them cool though.

I have a friend locally who has justed ordered a P61 lamp assembly for his G2 so I'll put my P60/G2 up against his for a direct comparism & then decide wether I need/want one, I may take a couple beamshot pics & post them here.
