im wanting to try this p7 mod, with a j bin p7 emitter, using this buck driver in version A. ive not yet decided on which type batteries i want to use, cause ive not read up on that part yet, and im not sure whats gonna give me the best discharge or runtime for my needs. this light will be used and drained nightly depending on the run time. if i cant get more than ~1-2hours of runtime, then it more than likely will be recharged every couple nights at least....

i have a question concerning a modification i want to do, to the body of a 3D maglite host...

i want to separate the battery housing from the head, with the dividing line just under the switch. my question is, if i were able to do all the machinery work, would the battery wires separating the two pieces result in a ton of extra resistance? or will this have a bearing on which driver and battery models i need? ive made a crude photoshop image of what im talking about.... thanks for any input, this will be my first mod, even if i have to junk the chop idea....

I've been on DX all morning trying to find a good 6D xenon host to add their P7 drop-in to.

Seems the only trouble that I'm having so far is finding information on what the correct voltage would be, and if it would be regulated (it is, indeed, a "discount" drop-in).

Another mod you may want to add to this project is an aspherical lens, due to the flooding tendencies that other buyers spoke of on DX.

I believe the curved lens would really turn a flood into a thrower in this case.
