Newb to the incan world and was reading another post about the LF EO-9 that caught my interest so I looked it up and it is advertised at 380 lumens but I doubt that is OTF.

I have a C3 and 9P both running P91s and primary CR123s. The P91 is rated conservatively by SF at 200 lumens. In some of the other posts I see conflicting opins on which brighter?

The LF seems reasonably enough priced but if I want see a difference I'll svae my money.

Thanks as always for the education

Bob

The p91 and eo-9 running in my g3 are very much the same, the lumens factory is more focused where as the p91 is more floody.

LF rates bulb lumen and SF is out the front lumen on half dead cells.

I have had no probs with LF bulbs good choice money wise.

Depends on your needs really. LF bulbs b\generally have more throw than their conterpart SF. OF course LF bulbs are much cheaper. Nonetheless, its worth trying both for yourselve.

Thanks for the input, think I'll go ahead and pick one up.

Anyone done comparisons with the LF and the Malkoff M60. I know that's an LED but I'm just curious if anyone has compared the brightness difference if any.

Thanks again

Bob

The LF is more focused and has a rounded beam profile whereas the P91 is floodier and slightly oval in shape.

I think the LF EO-9 is slightly more efficient in power consumption than the P91.

The link in my signture of the beamshot gallery shows the two lamps as well as the M60.

Depends on what batteries you are using and comparing.

The P91 has the potential to run a bit brighter brighter through sheer power consuming muscle, but it can only achieve a brighter performance from a good pair of li-ion cells. When compared side by side on CR123 primary cells, I've heard they are very similar.

This is spot on.

I spent a lot of time staring at my 9p with both P91 and LF EO-9... mostly on Li-Ion's.

With 2x 17500's, it was (IMO) a wash in output. E0-9 a bit more throw, P91 more of an oval flood.

However, things get interesting on 2x 18650's. The P91 seems to pick up a bit in this configuration, and is amazing.

Not sure about primaries, that would be costly to compare for too long...

My favorite combo was 2x18500's in a LEEF body. Such a small powerhouse hotwire. I sold off most of my hotwires, but I may need to reinvest with the new AW cells which can discharge at uber high rates. I would LOVE to try a 6P P91 :) Bliss for 10 minutes :)

Haven't tried the 18650s but I do run it in the 17670s with an A19 extender which is my favorite guilt free light running the LF EO-9.

I liked this combo so much that I bought an additional 9P and a C3 with A19s and about a hundred bucks in AWs 17670s from Lighthound.

I like to keep the original form factor as much as I can without going too frankenlightish.

Just got the LF E0-9 from Lighthound recently, what a thrower, nice and bright. Then I read that the P91 is the way to go so I have one of those the way too. I'm fairly new to the game, all these lights...I must say though, I thought LED's were the new king but IMO, incandescents still rock

I can quit any time (yeah right)

When I used to have both bulbs I compared them and the P91 really puts out a wall of light while the EO-9 is more concentrated in the hot spot. The P91 puts out more total output, its just spread out more. The output is crazy on 2 18650s.

i have just ordered a MOP reflector & a D26 bi-pin socket & FM1794 bulb from FM for my 9P running on AW 18500's, i have a E-09 LF bulb in it at the moment, which am i better buying? maybe i was thinking of ordering a P91 now

I think the FM1794 is probably the brightest but I never compared all three side-by-side.

Having run all 3 of these bulbs for awhile now, I can say that the Fm1794 bulb is without a doubt brighter(noticeably brighter). P91 is now in my backup light, still a great bulb. E-09 is dimmer overall than both. I've since stopped using the E-09 in any of my lights. It does have slightly better throw though.

i'll go with the FM so!

do you know if the 18500 set up is the best or should i use 18650's?

I use the 2x18650. Its the best for the bulbs current draw and longer run-time. I think 18500's will also work.

pete, have you noticed any reliability problems running the bi-pin setup?

I have not had good luck with them, they always seem to want to come lose. And I worry about them doing so if the light gets jolted. I would be S.O.L. until the whole thing cooled off.

the P91 seems to have a whiter tint than the EO-9 when using 2 18650's.. the P91 also melts black trash bags at a slightly faster rate ;)

I've been using the Bi-Pin setup w/FM1794 for about 2 months now. Its put thru its paces regularly every night at work(Chicago Police), thru foot chases, fights, been dropped, used as an impact weapon etc.,to date I've had 0 problems. Only complaint is that the push button needs to be depressed relatively hard, other than that it works perfectly. Never had anything come loose.

I've just ordered one of the FM D-26 bi-pin sockets, and I saw there is a set screw on the socket to hold the bi-pin bulb in place. Have the bi-pin setups you have had problems with the bulb coming loose in had the set screw like this? I've had this same issue in the past with the G4 bi-pin adapter, but it did not have a set screw. I have a feeling this new feature was put in place to ensure everything stays in place.

Good to know Pete - I have one of these on the way for my Leef 2x18500 host. What host are you using with this?
