I have heard these are very good batteries.
I have not been able to find them online, are they avilable
for sale? Does anyone have experience with these?
Do they have the raised nipple on the + end to make contact
when in series?
I would like to try them for my up-coming FireSword, which
uses 4 18650's stacked.

These will be available on CPFMP maybe next week (at lower price than AWs).

Please bear in mind that they are most likely *not* protected, and that carries all the risks that are spelled out all over these forums. I am not trying to troll and eagerly anticipate the cells; however, please be aware of the dangers.

They are not protected but unlike common LiCoO2 these are LiNiCoAlO2 and should be safer.

Yeah I have read that the chemistry is supposed to be safer
and I would not hesitate to use them in a application where
only 1 or 2 stacked were being used, but 4 stacked would make
me nervous. In that case, I would practically insist on protected.

Do you agree, or disagree?

I have many unprotected 18650 in use, never problems with them only with the protected.

If they are cheaper than AW's, then, which one will be better, or have a larger real capacity?

I have couple of unprotected li-ion cells (LiFePO4 and IMR) and it is very easy to overdischarge them in regulated lights. Even if you use only two in series. So I would recommend to be carefull and recharge rather sooner than later :)

Will the extra capacity make the light brighter or just extend
the run time?

Regulated lights - extend runtime.
Direct driven lights - brightness might differ, depends on the voltage under load.

AFAIK these Panasonic cells have slightly lower voltage under load, but can be safely discharged down to 2,5V.
