Panasonic LED lights?

That's interesting if they're actually made in Japan, some rather odd form factors though..

Yeah, the 4 x AA one looks very odd :D (I didn't order one of these)

I should have them in less than a week and will post up some impressions

I was looking at them last night (recently bought some CR123's and CR123 cases from there), but I can't find anything about them anywhere, and 7dayshop don't have any decent photos of them. I might just order the CR123 one anyway. In fact, why not at that price eh?

I was buying some stuff from 7dayshop last night and saw these Panasonic lights advertised

I have ordered one of the 2 x AA's and the 1 x CR123A ones to give them a go as I could not resist at that price

Has anybody seen these lights before?

I live in Japan so the Panasonics are on most hardware/fishing store shelves. I've resisted buying one because the name brand over here translates into probably 50 percent more than their worth compared to the specs of a Fenix, Deree, or Tiablo. I tried a demo of a recent model that had a lens which threw what looked like a huge spot with no spill, but the demo room was too small to test for throw. Not sure, but I think it was using maybe using a Luxeon? Certainly not a Cree or Seoul. If the export models are similar to what we have here, at the prices you found, I agree with your choice to grab one or two. I'm interested in hearing what you think about 'em.

50 hours on 1 CR123? I think you guys are too optimistic on the LED used. Its probably not a very "power LED"

But then again the price sounds like its too good to be true! Lol!

I'm not optimistic at all. If the runtime is 50 hours, I wouldn't expect more than 10% of that to be really useful light. £3.29 including shipping for a focusable light is worth it for s**t & giggles though. :)

But are they made there?

You're right to ask that question. I have a neat little CR123A powered Japanese packaged Gentos, roughly 130 lumens with an adjustable beam width ... think its a luxeon, a little on the blue side, BUT I don't think it is regulated. When I did a couple of searches on the net, I found the same light, along with a larger range of sister lights, on a Hong Kong site. I suspect they are made there, or mainland China. I never did find out if they were regulated, so one of these days, I'll get brave enough to risk blowing a ¥4000 light and see if an RCR works. In the meantime, my little Deree is my main EDC ... mostly because of the beautiful Q3 tint, but the run time is atrocious.

Mine arrived today. They're made in China, which isn't a big surprise to me. The build quality wouldn't seem too bad, but the rotating (focusing) head is a bit wobbly when it's not fully tightened. There's room to put extra o-rings on that might cure this, but I don't have any thin enough. I'd have more confidence in the switch if it were a true twisty.

It turns on and off by twisting the tail cap, but it's not a twisty as such because it clicks. It has a very even, circular beam with no spill (aspheric). The focusing doesn't seem to do a great deal. It comes with a wrist lanyard about the quality of a cheap shoelace.

For the money, it's okay I guess. It may be worth getting if you want a low powered, single CR123 light with no spill. It uses a 5mm LED, and considering the low output (I'm guessing < 10 lumens), it probably has long runtime, and may be good for finishing off spent CR123's.

They are a load of pants :shakehead

5mm LED behind a moveable lens. Very tight spot, sort of a very weak version of the old Inova 1 x AA units

Packaging says made in China, not Japan.

I will probably give them away to someone :D

Is it just me, or is the weak 5mm LED running off a CR123 an unusual setup? I'm thinking the saving grace of these might be incredibly long runtime combined with 10 year shelf life. The beam is quite usable up to around 5+ metres. They might be alright stashed around the house for power cuts or something. Can't say I'd recommend them though. :green:
