which maxpedition sheath fits a PD30, the 4" or 5"? and is the diameter of the light too small for the maxpedition products??

I'm not sure which sheath fits the PD30 but I can attest that maxpedition sheaths are huge in every dimension. I ordered the 5" Single Sheath to horizontal carry a 6P and it was just way too bulky. It's like carrying a 2C mag taped to your belt.

yeah, I want one more for attachment to a pack, so its not just rattling around in the bottom.

Do the PD30's not come with a little sheath? I remember my P3D was my first "real" flashlight and it came with a very nice nylon holster. It had a D-ring and a belt loop.

The PD30 do come with a belt holster.. but they are not the same as the P3D. The original ones were tight nylon that the flashlight slipped into - very nice.

The current ones are still good quality but have a flip down top that velcros and isn't as easy to get to quickly but is still quite sufficient in my opinion.

the problem with the current sheath is the fact that the flap can easily move to the side of the bezel leaving the light to easily fall out. lets just say I wouldnt attach it to my pack for a hike.

This is true - however I wouldn't trust the P3D upside down either.. so really if I were to go hiking or anything with lots of movement - neither are suitable.

For usage like fishing etc.. either works well imo. I prefer the P3D > PD30 though.

4 inch. I bought one, i bought the tube one. They told me "Hey get the 5 inch im sure its better" so i bought it and the light dissapeared inside it almost, so i had to send it back and get the 4 inch and get a refund for the difference. Get the 4 inch.

thanks, I called em' and they said the same thing, but I read the dimensions and came up with the same conclusions- 4"
