I just received one of the Pelican 7060 LED rechargable lights today. This is a Christmas present for my Sergeant that me and a few guys from my shift kicked in for.
After charging it up for the recommended 5 hours, I have to say that I am really impressed. The construction is very solid. The majority of the body/tailcap/bezel is made of a very durable polymer, and there is a section of the bezel that surrounds the reflector that is made of aluminum that has cooling fins that act as a heat sink.
It is very bright, and is rated by Pelican @ 130 (Out-the-front) lumens, but I believe that to be a little conservative. Probably closer to 150 or so. The 7060 uses a CREE emitter.
This light was definately designed to be a "Thrower" and it has a nice tight hot-spot. There are some rings in the beam pattern, but nothing that distracts at all, and this is typical for a smooth reflector light. It has a very deep reflector. The smooth reflector is what was spec'ed out for this light from the get-go by the LAPD as they wanted more of a thrower than a flood beam pattern. At least that is what info is available on the internet for why they choose the smooth reflector.
I really dig the two seperate switches (tailcap & body), and the light can also be activated by backing the tailcap off a 1/4 turn, effectively giving you three seperate activation options. Both button switches function as Momentary-ON/Click Constant-ON/Click-OFF.
The light is pretty BIG (8.5" long), and although it does come with an included belt mounted pouch, it may be a bit too large for belt carry for some. I would prefer a bezel down pocket clip that would allow me to carry it in my duty BDU pants pocket.
Overall this light feels very well made, and it should put up with as much abuse as your average patrolman can dish out. Made in the USA, I like it ALOT! I may have to get one for myself as I could really use a "Thrower" beam as all of my other duty lights are more of a flood pattern.
*Sorry, No pics. My camera is officially dead:sigh:
