Back in February I bought a Mitylite 2xAAA incan. Up until now,I have kept it clipped to the visor in my truck. I thought it would be a nice little light for reading maps and such without having to turn on my dome light which I don't like doing.

Here's the problem: I have hardly used it but I have had to change out dead batteries twice. It was in a spot where accidental turn ons would have been noticed, so I know it isn't somehow being activated by bouncing around. Plus, since it is a twisty I keep it loosened enough that it takes at least a couple turns to turn on.

I doubt this light has been used more than five or so minutes since purchase yet it has killed two sets of batteries, one set being energizer lithiums.

Any ideas why this is happening and how I could fix it? I've thought about replacing it with a Microstream, but I like the color rendition of an incan.

Black magic:rolleyes:? Maybe when it gets jostled around the batteries make contact for a few seconds at a time and this adds up:shrug:? Or the heat in your vehicle has been killing them, remember the higher up in your vehicle the hotter the it gets. I store lights under my seats were is barely gets hot in the sun:thumbsup:.

The first set of batts went out in early Spring and its been a mild summer, even by Michigan standards...so I doubt heat has been a factor. Where I park at home is shaded.

I've had other lights in the truck with no jostling related problems. I don't take rough unpaved roads on a regular basis.

I've had two of these lites and the only thing I found was that batteries tend to leak in them easily. I have no idea why that would happen to you as this lite is difficult to turn on as it is. maybe your has a short in it. Open it out and check it. Is there any damage up near the bulb holder is the contact running from the bottom of the flashlight bent or twisted, is the spring in the bulb holder twisted in any way?

After my last one disentegrated after the batteries leaked in it I vowed never to use these again. My other lites have stood up to leaking batteries before.
