In before the close! :D

BTW: Given how they make it appear the opponent is going to be compliant and docile, that whole video is horse sh**t.

lol, i agree, this guy would not last 1 minute on the street against 3 guys.

how come other 2 stay away while he attacks the third guy with his light. it wont happen in real life, the other two or one would stick a sharpened screwdriver(new trend, deadly but perfectly legal) in his kidney as soon as he turns away.

this video will only hurt those that think it will work in real world.

Airmj, in case you don't know why he said this, on CPF you are not allowed to discuss flashlights as weapons. This thread will be closed as soon as a moderator finds it. Now you know.

NLI, you beat me to it. Choreographed ridiculousness.

What's hilarious is it plays like something out of the Tactical Use of Strobe thread. :D

The only real good "tactical" move is to get off the X and get out of there.

Unrealistic choreography aside, the tactics in the video looked more like offense than defense. In the right hands, a flashlight is a serviceable defensive weapon, but they are generally horrible offensive weapons.

This forum doesn't take kindly to people talking about using flashlights as weapons, whether defensive or offensive.

I will say that if you find yourself in a situation where your only defense tool is a flashlight, you probably better rely on your feet to get you the heck out of there.

And your flashlight to light the way.

The above is not correct. Please see my comment below.

This.

There is a big difference between outright prohibition of a discussion topic and the discouragement of said topic because of the proven difficulty of having (& maintaining) a positive and constructive discussion about it.

I initially viewed this thread earlier this morning, but refrained from commenting because what is important for this topic is the quality of the content. We have had a few very good threads regarding self-defense & flashlights over the years which have remained open. However, when the thread content is of poor quality or disruptive, it is often easier to close the thread than to nurse it along on life support.

After 'peer review' (as-it-were) by previous posters in this thread, it does appear that the video in question has major issues & lacks credibility. Some of the posts above are right on, IMO.

Best regards,
