They are broken because some are on and those are off, in 100+ masterleds instaled.Are we begging the question?
How do you know they are broken?
Did you ask if there was a circuit breaker open or that failed?
Were they all in the same section, or, scattered throughout?
While they may very well be defective, I would hesitate to draw that conclusion without further evidence to support that hypothesis...
Primary cause of led retrofit lamp failure is inadequate driver/voltage regulation design or overheating(inadequate heatsinking or unusually low airflow). It's also possible if the multiple leds are wired in series in the lamp that a single failure would cause the lamp to go off, that's exceedingly rare though, and if you've seen numerous "dead" lamps that's almost certainly not the issue.
If you have a moment to go into any retail store, you'll quickly notice that any exhibiting LED lamp, whether its desk lights, clamp lights, show lights, or any undercabin lights that uses clustered LEDs, there will always be failures. sometimes blotchy, often failing in its entirety.
Also, don't believe the cover, and don't believe any warranties, guarantees, or performance statements. 3 years of buying, repairing, and rebuilding commercial LED lighting units tell me most companies skimp on heatsinks. Cluster LEDs just has more points of failure.
But this is a setback in light technology dont you think? They claim 40000h lifespan and that doesnt happen
Hi all, i just saw in a large retail store a large number of those led tubes broken (off). Can anyone explain why those led tubes are already dead? Where are the 40000h of life span?
It's correct that the LEDs are rated for 40,000 hours, only problem is, the drivers found in most of these LED tube lights are not. So if a large amount of them are failing, it's probably because the driver is dead.
