Hi there !

As I like colored LEDs quite a bit and as I am one of the bleeding edge modders out there /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif, I am now introducing
... the Photon Color Rainbow

With enormous effort I was finally able to complete the difficult task of putting different discrete LEDs into Photon Microlights. I included all the colors I could get and ended up with this:

waiting for nightfall ...

... and firing up

Of course, my pre-WorldWar digicam cannot capture the beauty of the colors /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The LEDs I used are the following, beginning with white (top) clockwise:
- white
- deep red, 720nm, roithner
- cherry red, ?, ebay photon copy
- red, 630nm, photon original
- orange red, 605nm, photon original
- orange, ?, ebay photon copy
- amber, 592nm, photon original
- yellow, 587nm, led kampagne
- lemon green, 570nm, roithner
- green, 525nm, photon original
- green-blue, 505nm, roithner
- turquoise, 495nm, photon original
- blue-green, 480nm, roithner
- light blue, ?, ebay photon copy
- blue, 470nm, photon original
- royal blue, 430nm, roithner
- pink, 440nm, led kampagne
- violet, 420nm, led kampagne
- purple, 405nm, photon original
- UV, 370nm, photon original
- UV, 350nm, roithner

And now, the real purpose of this thread ... question:
Does anyone know other colors/frequencies I could add to my collection that really do make a visible difference?

thanx !

I did, makes me drool.
The problem is that lots of the cool stuff there is no longer produced or unobtainium or I simply do not know where to order those.
Craig's site inspired me to collect all the different colros I could find.

One that I would really like is this very yellow and bright Nichia LED Craig is talking about, but I didn't find a store to order those /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Go to PHOTONS website and check out X-LIGHT IN X-COLOR-,I got 4 of them and they are pretty cool /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I don't know where to get Nichia's phosphor yellow, NSPY500S if I remember right. I can't even remember where my sample came from. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Maybe typing Nichia NSPY500S into Google or other search engine of your choosing will give some useful results.

Tried and got YOUR web page, Craig, as well as the Nichia home page, that's all /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
So ... there must be someone selling these, hm?

btw, if anyone knew a LED that falls between 530-560nm I'll kiss his ... ahem ... well ... I'd be pleased.

That's {vulgar term for having had intercourse} up. I figured that *someone* would have this LED, but I guess not. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

I did run across someone that claimed to have a 540nm InGaN slightly yellowish-green LED awhile back, but once again I can't remember who it was or where the LED came from. I never got to see it or measure it, so I can't even confirm its existence. :toliet:

too bad, but thanx anyway.
I found a German e-mail from Nichia and mailed them my wishlist ... let's see /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thats an interesting beams shot there kiess /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hmmm, I cant seem to locate your keys there anywhere though.

Awesome! Nice work!!!
I'll bet tossing that ball of light around would look really cool outside at dusk. You should do it and have someone take photos with a semi slow shutter for effect.. I would bet the traces that follow the light around would come out awesome in the pics.

It kinda reminds me of a Pantone color wheel sample kit... In LEDs of course!

Jeez, You could make a night club light out of that thing!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

(hope your stockin' batteries...) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Reboot, will that be about 20mcd as opposed to about 9500 for current Nichia whites? Or am I interpreting the figures wrong? And can I order online from them?

jtice, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif, no keys here, just Photons. Who needs keys anyway?

RevDavid, flash, thanx a lot /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif!
