Are there any users of the LRI/Photon Fusion. I like my Inova 24/7 for hands free, but even with max out it's pretty weak. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Burt Gummer was right! (Tremors 1)

I have a web page about the Photon Fusion right here if you're interested.
They switched to four regular and two wide-beam 5mm (T1 3/4) LEDs in late summer 2002; they used to have four wide-beam and two regular LEDs in there. You can tell if you have a "new" version if there is a 3mm (T1) clear package red LED in the lower right of the LED formation in the bezel.

Here's a look at the bezel of a "new" style Fusion.
Note the 3mm (T1) red LED to the right of the lowest white LED in the array.

The price tag is too high for the fusion. $80 is too high. If would be a good buy if it was cheaper. The headlamp that most have raved about on this board is the PT Yukon HL and it is significantly cheaper.

$43 from botac.com. I personally think it is a wonderful light however, I've been spoilt by the Luxeon feaver and would prefer the same features in a 1W version.

Sorry about that chiphead. What nonbox says below is true. Some people have had problems in the past. Visit hereand here for jeers and here for cheers. Or just do a search for Botac and check out the results. The end choice is obviously yours. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I read on many different forums that botach, botac.com is not a trustworthy online retailers. If you run a search you will find endless negative posts about them.

The price of the Fusion might be high, not to me though
there service is awesome,,you have any problems with your
unit they will take care of it ASAP!even if its an older unit! they stand by there products 100%Thumbs up to L.R.I.!!
My Fusion is very bright and projects very well,I have tried
many head units but this Fusion takes the cake for brightnes
and battery time..

The latest version uses one button and has a control scheme just like the photon freedom except that the ramp up controls the red (now dual red) LEDs and the tap on/ramp down controls the whites. FYI, the latest set of 6 Nichias driven at 1.5W total substantially outshines a luxeon star in terms of lumens. The star is easier to tight focus though. If you don't use the thing in a heavy downpour, then it is ~20% brighter with the plastic lens cover removed. The lexan costs 12% and the other 8% is due to improved cooling.
