I just received Pila's battery charger as an upgrade to my old UltraFire W-139 which I've been using to charge my 18650 cells.

After using the Pila charger last night with a few different UltraFire 18650s, I'm getting an LED condition that isn't in the manual.

When a partially discharged battery is first inserted, a solid red LED appears, meaning the battery is charging. After a while however, the red LED starts blinking. I've had one continue to blink for eight hours.

What does this mean? According to the manual, a defective battery condition is communicated with a solid green LED and a blinking red LED. There is no explanation of only a blinking red LED.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Does this happen when you have got a battery in both slots or only when there's just one side in use ?

Red LED slowly blinking and green LED off - my Pila does this when it detects a short curcuit at the output.

It has happened both ways, during double charging, or single charging.

Tohuwabohu - can you elaborate? Are you saying the battery is shorted? It still seems to work, I'm just not sure if it is fully charged. I know the WhateverFire batteries really suck. I was hoping to use this Pila charger to cull my herd.

Do you think I should discard the battery if I get this condition?

Thanks for your insight gentlemen.

Sorry, I dont't know what to suggest.
I have never seen this condition when actually charging a battery.
I only saw it when I tested the charger and measured the short curcuit current with a DMM.

As a rule, if you have a short in you battery, recycle it.

That said, what is the voltage of the battery when you hook it to a DMM?
