I just bought a 5w LED light and it was working great until i went to replace the batteries for the first time. Basically, the battery holder is really cheap and cracked so I need to replace it.

The battery holder holds 4 AAA alkalines and has a spring-loaded tip to maintain contact. If anyone can tell me what this part is called (and more importantly) where I can buy one, I'd greatly appreciate it, otherwise I have to buy an entirely new light. Please see screenshot:

Here's the site I ordered my light:

(oh, and my light DOES NOT say "Police")

Any help is much appreciated! I am now addicted to this site!!

Given the type of light you have and the price of the light. I doubt very much the manufacturer will make spare battery holders for them. The battery holder is cheaply made in the first place as you have stated, which is why it cracked. Replacing it with another cheaply made holder is not really effective even if the holders are available, because it's likely just going to crack again.

My advice is to buy another light that doesn't require a holder, you don't want your light to fall apart when you most need it. Try single or double AA light with a Cree Q5 or higher emitter.

The light was cheap, and getting spare parts for something like that you would have to be very lucky!
So buy another cheap light instead, maybe next time something else breaks, and you have spareparts available!
Or buy another, modular and better light, for a different price but for the added convenience of spares available, or even upgradable parts available!, and start upgrading your light!

This appears to be using a Luxeon emitter, try the Cree and you'll likely get more output from a single AA cell. Sorry for not being able to find a solution to your question, but I think the it's not worthwhile trying to locate a spare carrier for this light. Btw, Welcome to CPF, you'll have to hold onto your wallet, I'll sure you'll find a better replacement light.

Thanks for the info—I would definitely pick up a nice CREE unit if I could afford it. I don't think I can splurge on that right now. The light I got was a price I couldn't refuse—i got it on sale for 4 bucks—and it's solid as a rock other than the plastic battery holder.

o well.
:awman:

I am sure these were the same lights I saw in a small shop in Phuket in Thailand.
And the price there were more than double of USD 4 !
So back to my first post in this thread:
Get some for spares!
