After reading Scout24's runtime threads I became intrigued with the Matterhorn and the current runtime test with the Eiger. Curt mentioned in the thread that a modern Eiger with XPG producing the same candela of the older Matterhorn #1 would be a #.5 drive level. I am mainly looking for low low and would prefer the low Matterhorn beam but if the Eiger was made with a lower current to get same low I'd go with the Eiger. The extra run-time would be gravy.

Also is there a picture of the different body styles, as the web site doesn't picture all the options. I hear lug body, keychain body but I don't see a picture with a label to differentiate which is which. Thanks.

Eiger operates by phone - shoot 'em a line and they'll help you much more than the web site does.

You can see all of the body styles HERE. they're the same as the matterhorns.

Thanks Jabe1. My other question was resolved when I saw on the other seller of Peak that you can buy the momentary switches for $10 ea for the Eiger. Is it only momentary or like the switch for a Preon where is is a clicky on/off as well as momentary?

Re: Possible to order a #.5 power level Eiger?

Yeah I talked to Curt and he said they can do a lower output than #1. I'm going to have to call back and see about a .5-1.00 lumen Eiger.

The possibility of a #.5 raises an interesting point. Candlepower at this level would certainly be minimal in the Eiger, but in a Logan with its more focused optic it could be considerably more useful.

Still, you might need to change your name to something like "Faint Little Glimmer of Light".

Damn, I wish I knew that when I ordered my red Eiger.

Yeah the Logan is interesting but I already have several Novatacs and that might be redundant seeing I have 4 modes with the Novatacs. I just want a dedicated low light. Might get an ElCapitain as well on super low, "I will see how low he can go".

Sweet...that would run for a very loooong time!
:sick2:

I have had 2 #8's and a #6......now thinking about a #1 or #2:twothumbs

Re: Possible to order a #.5 power level Eiger?

Peak Eiger "Beacon" edition? :poke:

If they had a Beacon Edition it would be running lower than the #0.5 level. If I like these Eigers I may order a lower level one still or wait for the multi level switch to get a couple of lower modes off these #0.5 models.

I ordered 2 Eigers both are #0.5:

*one HAIII with SS head wide beam keychain style

*one brass with medium beam keychain style

*extra 2xAAA brass body tube

Can't wait and I will try a AAA runtime myself when it arrives.

Here are the contenders:

* Peak Eiger

* Illuminati

* Preon

* iTP EOS upgrade

* iTP H01 headlamp

* Maratac AAA

* Fenix E01

* Liteflux LF2

* Liteflux LF2XT

Re: Possible to order a #.5 power level Eiger?

:candle: The #0 Eiger battery draw is 30 mA and the power to the LED is 12 mA for an output of 10.5 foot-candles and
4 Lumens otf. This is with a 1.5 volt battery. The 3.0 volt battery draw is 18 mA with two AAA batteries and
just slightly higher output. The 3.6 volt Li-Ion is 24 mA and 25 fc and 8 Lumens otf. A 10180 battery should
run the #0 for 3.5 hours.

Re: Possible to order a #.5 power level Eiger?

Thanks Curt. I was kind of hoping for around 1 lumen or lower but thats ok hoping your multi switch will get it down to those levels when you have those available.

I know you told me there was a XPG you were testing with a 13mA draw from battery. If this ever becomes available that would interest me very much and if possible I would prefer that to the #0. Is it possible to get down to 1mA of power the LED needs? Pretty sure that's the same level the Quark AA lists for their moon mode and that is a decent amount of light for general uses (.2 lumens)

I'm a freak for super low lumens. My favorite lights like the Quark I use at moon mode and that is .2 lumens and my Novatacs all are .08 lumens and my Zebralight H31 is .5 lumens. That was my desire to get a dedicated single level moon mode light. I was hoping 4Sevens was able to do this but not enough demand I guess...

Well, my order is in for two more Eigers. I wasn't quite as daring as you and went for the #1 since I think the 6-7 lumen range suits me better, but I can't wait to see your runtime tests on those lower level units....

same here, can't wait! Getting the AAAs ready for the test, most probably early next week or as soon as the Eigers come in which ever happens first.

Re: Possible to order a #.5 power level Eiger?

Curt, couple questions for you, do you have straight up green LED's (not cyan) and how much would it cost just for an aluminum Eiger head with a green LED?

Oh one more, how bright would that green be in the #0?
