Prevent a copper light from patinating

I prefer that my copper lights not tarnish, or patinate. What have you found to be the best way to do this, assuming the light isn't lacquered?

Keep brass light shiny

What do you use to keep you brass lights from tarnishing? Any suggestions as to the best compound to use? Are there any good natural solutions? I ask because I've had olive oil, lemon juice, etc. suggested but haven't been able to verify any of the suggestions.
