Hello, I'm looking for recommendations for good [rechargeable] li-ion protected D-cells and a suitable charger. I'm new to these size batteries and there don't seem too many options available - I get all of my R batteries from AW, but he doesn't seem to make them in the size I need. I'm reading some (fairly old) negative reports about Kaidomain D-cell reliability on CPF, could anyone share their recent experience or recommendations?

Hello

I bought a couple of D Li-Ion from Kaidomain.
Here is the results:

I haven't used this cells so much but they work for me, I use it in a light from Electrolumens.

Thank you Anders. I've spent hours looking on the net for li-ion D cells and there's very little choice out there. Kaidomain are selling protected D cells so maybe I'll give them a go.

 :poof:

I am very interested to see some test results from those XTAR D Li-ions whenever they become available.

I have some Kaidomain protected D cells - they seem to work fine up to ~3 amps but the protection circuit cuts off around 3.5 amps. My cells work fine with ROP Low (3854L & 3853L) and are a bit finicky with 3853H. For my 3854H bulbs (which draw around 4.5A) I cannot get them to work at all from the protected D cells.

I also have some unprotected D cells (need to be more careful with these) and they work great with my 3854H bulb, very easily providing 4.5A with very little sag in the voltage.

The standard D cells are 32mm dia and 60mm long, the protected 32600 cells are 66mm long. In my Maglite 2D flashlights I use the Kaidomain golden shorty springs to make it easier to get the tail cap on, but they do fit.
