Hey guys,

I'm looking for an off the shelf bikelight setup.

I'd like it to be rechargeable and as bright as possible. Burn time should be at least 2 hours.

Also, 2 lights would be better than 1 but I'm open to suggestions.

Cheers,

Stuart

Try 2 Fenix L2D's (or LD20's) both running Q5 emitters. I run a single L2D-CE and it's sufficient for my riding but I sometimes augment it with an L1D-CE. You should be able to get 2 lights plus NiMH batteries and a charger for under that price point.

4sevens.com sells the lights and handlebar mounts. I would suggest the twofish lockblocks.

Many people here seem to like using the Fenix lights(especially the L2Ds) as bike lights along with the two fish blocks.

Stuart, check out the bicycle sub-forum here. The mods might move your thread over there anyway.

Add one or two Planet Bike Superflash's for the rear and some rechargable AAA batteries. I think the easiest set up would use AA's and AAA's. I use a Fenix L1T (I might get another one or maybe a LD10) with the lockblock. I was surprised by how well the lockblocks hold the light in place. Also, I think the 1 AA flashlights are just the right length. I think the 2 AA lights might be a little long to mount on a bike since they can get in the way.

Fenix TK11 with a 18650 cell (spare one in your pocket) with a Fenix bike mount. =200m beam with LOTS of sidespill and over 2hrs of runtime per cell.
Perfect combo

Take care

If you need the entire kit for $150 then you may be better served with 2 P60 lights. Using one with an R2 module I get about 5 hours of runtime until cell protection kicks in on a trustfire 18650. Just one would give out plenty of light to ride by but if you're going off road more light would be better so maybe get two and make one a flood by sticking a diffuser material on the lens. Both lights would be about 40 bucks so the rest you can spend on lots of batteries and a decent charger.

They do hold very well. On rough surfaces, the key is to position the light's center of mass directly above the bar.

I routinely use mine with a 2xAA light. It works very well when observing the above guideline. I have also tried it with a 1xAA light (Romisen RC-G2) and found it was actually harder to keep it balanced correctly because the head is so much heavier than the tail. But even that was ok when I cranked it down more tightly than usual.
