q3 direct drive

hi,
does anyone know if i can direct drive my q3 (with seoul star) with cr123's and rcr123's?
will it kill the led or the rcr123's?

Do you want to convert to direct drive or is it already. With the RCR123 it will run in direct. If it has the stock circuit board, leave it. Nothing will be hurt running either of the batteries you state,

The Seoul SSCs I have tested (H and I bin) draw about 200 ma at 3 volts, IIRC.

So they will be underdriven and will be ok.

I dunno about 3.6 volts. Never tried it.

I have two Q3s that I have Lux IIIs in and that I run with R123s and I've got a LOT of use out of them. Runtime isn't great, but brightness sure is! My T3JG (I think that's the bin) green Q3 is.... uh... impressively bright on an R123.

I also built a couple and bought an additional one with a 2 stage tailcap, all of which I ran on R123s.
