Re: Q3\'s mother ?

I took the head apart ( just by twisting /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/duh2.gif ) The LS is a TX1KW. What is amazing is that the board has just one resistor ( value I don't know ). It has a no. R-AL3W printed on the board. This thing is a DD and it should have no problem running on a 168s with the same brightness. However, I wonder why a 100 ohm resistor for the 2 stage switch /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Christo_pull_hair.gif

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

I have the one from Glowbug. I paid way too much. But it is more powerful than my Q-III. Although my Ombu X33 is 'warmer' looking greenie tint and Q-III it White, maybe blue tint but definately whiter.

Here is an old post with reviews and spec links to the light. Ombu x33 reviews

I like the light a lot though and wouldn't mind doing a Milky mod to boost it and a washer to allow it to stand on end.

[EDIT] BTW I swapped dual stage tail from X33 to QIII and it would not work. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

I'm still rather new to all this...

But it seems to me that there'd be no reason to think that this 2X123 "Mother" version of the QIII would be any less subject to the "Luxeon Lottery" than it's "daughter", which I already own! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I suppose one might say that over the past 6 weeks, I've enjoyed some serious "beginner's luck!"...

...Beginning with my first Luxeon purchase (the 1 watt Dorcy from Target), so far my "Lux Luck" has been absolutely terrific.*
I was especially lucky with my QIII, which is not only one of those with the really pure, extremely bright, (definitely cool in color) white,...but I'm also lucky enough to get the benefit from "Moon glow." For quite some time after it's passed the infamous 1 1/2 hr, bright light drop-off mark, my QIII still provides very useable light.

*My Dorcy 1 watt is one of the bright "white ones!"...(From what I hear, it seems like 1 out of every 6 of the Dorcy's has that nice color of white...a white which does not contain additional "hints" of green or yellow).

Perhaps my lottery luck will continue to hold and the new 3 watt lux that's on it's way from Hong Kong, will be just as sweet as the one in my QIII...One can only hope!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/takeit.gif

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

this is low out put from 10 ohm resistor stock LuxIII.

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

Heres another cooler version of the Q-III called Elpa Army Spec 3w DOP-11MG:

I really want one! but think this version is only released in Japan /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

Wow....Cool color. The only tail switch is a little difference from QIII.

Anybody can identity that thing on the board?

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

Isn't that a big fat resistor? That means the light is just a simple resistored setup. No electronics, practically direct drive.

My guess : 2.7 ohm, Red/Violet/Gold (looks like black but there's no match for black in my lookup table).

6V input, 3.6V Vf, 2.7 ohms - 889mA.

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

What resistor value should I look for ( 3.7V input , 1A current )?

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

I bought 2x123a luxI China made. I think it's very pretty machine work. But when I open the circuit I found only 1 piece of resistor.

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

Does anyone have pictures of the circuit inside the Q-III?
It must have a boost circuit because the battery input voltage is only 3 Volts.

Paul,

Any chance of a more detailed review? It looks like a really nice deal, great idea for mixing and matching the switches.

Sorry folks made a mistake! Body is different but this light has the same "guts" as the Nuwai TM-115X, reviewed here >>>Quickbeam's review

With respect to performance, my TM-115 on the low setting it is about as bright as a UKE 4-aa ELED; on the high setting it equals or exceeds a Gerber LX3.0. I don't know how this light, with different reflector, would compare.

Sorry for my previous post, in which I stated that this light was a TM-115
