QCTP help

Hey guys I got my QCTP and parts for my lathe know my question is how does it go on???

Do I use that block that was on my old 4way
Because I got every thing on with out using that block and the tool post does not lock it into place from swinging left to right am I doing something wrong ???

is the bolt bottoming out? I think I may have had to do some machining of the nut, and I know others have had to do some machining of the mounting parts to get it to fit.

I don't think it is.... It fits pretty good but it does not lock the tool post from turning ? How do I lock it down so it does not do that

David/Angelpoise mentioned a very important point in Will's PM1236 thread. His photo is no longer up but check out posts 156 & 172 in Will's thread.


Will's photo below from post 172 shows that the top of the T-nut sits below the top surface of the compound slide. If the T-nut sits ever so slightly above the top surface of the compound slide you will never achieve proper lock up. It best to have it sit a decent amount below the compound slide rather than have it closer to flush. It's not critical to have it close as possible there.

Did you get the adapter bolt from LMS ? That made my QCTP a bolt-in affair.

Yes I did buy that piece and works well.....I think I found the problem there is a little spring pin that the tool post sits on well once I pushed it down and put the tool post on top and wiggled it around so now it works out ok

Works great :) now I'm waiting on my boring bar and inserts, MT2 bullnose, lathe drill chuck, and few other things

You can remove that spring & clip, it's not needed for the QCTP.

Good choice on the SCLCR/L, they're one of my favorites.

Yes, I understand. Nothing more frustrating than having a nice new tool that needs more tools to work!
