As some of you may know, I did not have much luck with my first Quark 123^2 light. I assumed to much BEFORE contacting 4sevens for help and i had my rear end handed to me. Not going to happen again! So to bring you up to speed, I got my first 123^2 and it had bad flickering problems. I talked to cust service and it was replaced really fast. I got my replacement light today. SUCCESS!!! it worked perfectly. Thousands of 4sevens customers cant be wrong. Later in the day, I had it in my lap and it suddenly went to Turbo. I went from brand new CR123 primaries to AW RCR123s, to nearly-dead CR123 primaries. I cleaned the contact (where the batteries meet the head) and i tightened the switch in the tailcap with needlenose plyers. Nothing helped. I have the regular version. It is too late to contact 4sevens cust support, but I am hoping I can get seom responses, theories, or a "do this and it might work". please help Quark users!

What's the problem exactly? Is it that it's on turbo mode when you don't want it to be?

This may be stupid of me to ask, but did you try unscrewing the bezel from the body a little bit?

the light stays in turbo even if the head is loose. also, half-pressing the button activates the strobe function.

As as simple as it may be more most folks, it's possible to improperly unscrew :ohgeez:or tighten a Quark end cap.

I'm not sayting THAT is the cause of the "turbo issue", simply relating my own experience and solution.
I am a big Quark fan & a happy repeat (almost weekly!?!):broke:
4 Sevens customer.

You can be certian the turbo problem will be fixed/addressed by them.

i just tried loosening the head and very slightly lossening the tailcap. this didn't help. thanks for the idea!

You are quite possibly the unluckiest person in the world. The only thing I can think of is that the electronics in the head aren't seated all the way down and are making contact with the sides of the head, activating turbo inadvertently.

clean between the outer contact ring and the threads inside the head. a small metal shaving caught there is often the cause of this problem among many brands of lights.

vio765 pm me with your name/order number. I want to check into who sent you the replacement.
Why did you create another thread instead of continue the previous thread?

That's what I was guessing it might be too. A tiny little piece of aluminium swarf from cutting the thread maybe dislodged and now jammed between the edge of the ring and the thread in the head.

what is "pm"? also, i checked the inside of the head for any stray shavings, but after checking really closely, i didn't see anything. and i forgot the RMA number (located on the packing envolope) at the office. and worst of all, i left it in the common area and i am pretty sure the cleaning crew will think it is trash and toss it.

Check out the "private message" feature at CPF. In the above captioned case the Owner of the 4 Sevens is asking that you send him a "Private Message"
so that he can immediately and personally address your concern. That says alot (yet again) about their comittment to service excellence.

lucky you.... been about 2 months so far for me. with another 2 months possible according to their last email I recieved.= 4months???????

although I'm dissapointed with the "repair time", I did pick up a q123 2 r2(very nice! w/ 2 li ions)..... hopefully this one doesn't disappoint, giving the Quarks a second chance. Not sure if I'd give 3 tho.

as a businessman myself, i always take ETA's with a grain of salt. 2 weeks may actually be 2 weeks, but something almost always happens. customs holdups, a manufacturing strike, 1000 units were pulled because the working operating a machine was just disciplined and has turned out a product 1/32" longer than spec as revenge, etc etc. nothing surprises me anymore. so my attitude is extremely stoic nowadays. if i get this light in two weeks and actually works properly, I would not be surprised. if i got it in 6 months and it didnt work and had to order a fourth light (along with another 6 months ETA), i would not be surprised. i dont think my third light will be bad. people has read this, 4sevens knows it, and there are many competitors available. 4sevens is smart. the proof is that they are growing and have a strong following. i am witness to their good customer service and would not hesitate to spend more money in the future. I don't think we will have any more problems. I honestly think my experience is just horrible luck. i don't care if 15 Quark 123^2 lights fail within 6 minutes of owning them, 10 year warranty, baby!!! hail 4sevens.:grin2:

Oooh, this just happened to my Quark 123 regular about 20 mins ago. I came across this thread looking for a fix.

I'll try all the cleaning suggestions above first and hope for the best. Wish me luck!
