Quark RGB

I understand the Quark RGB comes with a reverse-clicky. Can you change the tailcap for one of their tactical forward-clickies? I searched around but didn't find anything conclusive.

Yes. Just remember the UI doesn't change, so to switch modes you'll be doing something like tap-tap-click instead of click-tap-tap.

Not entirely true.

One can purchase the tactical tailcap for the Turbo Quark and it will function as a tactical switch ("forward" clicky) and is recessed so that it will tail stand as well. (I run this configuration on my Quark RGB).

Yeah, that tailcap is pretty sweet. I just wish 4sevens would consider putting out an RGB that had the preon UI. That would probably make my RGB my favorite light . . . I love floody lights!

Yes, it does work, but . . .

I ordered an RGB plus forward clicky switch for exactly this reason. The forward clicky does work, but unfortunately it frequently skips modes. I think there must be something in the forward clicky switching that makes the light engine think that you've clicked more than once.

Even without this problem, momentary action is out of the question anyway because of the very long four-second delay for mode-changing.

It was so infuriating on mine that I had to go back to the reverse clicky.

I just wish 4sevens would consider putting out an RGB that had the preon UI.

+100 jblackwood - you've hit the nail on the head there: Preon UI would be sweet.

I'd like to see something more like the a fusion of the Maelstrom and Tactical UIs: 4 position control ring for output color, and two programmable modes per color accessed via the bezel in tightened and loosened positions.

I think that would be really intuitive if they could do that(since there are 4 colors). If they would come up with a UI that worked a bit like you just mentioned, I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up. Although I don't think the current UI is all that bad.
