Well, like a moron, i fell asleep last night and left my LED flashlight on overnight. well i woke up and instantly remembered i was using it to read a book. I instantly turned it off and checked the batteries with one of those little checkers you buy at radioshack. (you know, the battery testers with the needle that moves and corresponds with the charge level Bad, Ok, or Good.) well one of them was just slightly into the red, so much it wasn't that bad. but the other one just barely moved, meaning it was run down pretty far. well i put them in the charger, and they both charged up good.

My question is, in case the one got "reverse charged" what are some symptoms of this?

Can i expect less run time?

what else should/could i expect to see?

another question is, after batteries get reverse charged, if not from one time, but say a few times, would it mess up anything inside that would make it more prone to leaking, say while in use or when it's being charged?

less run time isn't a big of deal to me, I'm more worried about it leaking while in use or while being charged.

Hello Frijid,

If the cell was reversed charged the needle on the tester would have moved backwards.

Since that didn't appear to happen, you just drained your cells really low.

NiMh cells are fairly robust so you shouldn't see any adverse effects.

Ahh, see i did not know this, so thanks for telling me. i've been cycling the battery today and so far it seems ok.

thanks again!

Or not move at all, a battery that has been hit With reverse, can be completly flat 0V and still have gotten damage , without showing a negative voltage.

The eneloopies have a tendancy to be very similar in capacity, which helps that they will be mostly depleated at near the same time in a set.
If you get actual reverse charge, it depends on how hard and for how long, along with how many times.

they are new batteries, only a few months old and this was about the 4th time i've used them.
