Can any one advise if the Stocker & Yale model 590 Quartz(the one Countrycomm.com sells) has tritium tubes on the hour markers as welll as the hour/minute hands? From the picture on the site, it's hard to tell, it looks like only the minute/hour hands have tritium tubes. If they do have tubes on the hour markers, are they all green or is the "12" o clock position orange like on the Marathon watches? Also, can anyone advise how bright these are? I have been using the "search" feature quite a bit and have seen some comments that the Stocker & Yale watches are the least bright of the tritium illuminated watches, any first hand accounts?

I'm trying to pin down which tritium illuminated watch to get, I really like the looks of the Marathon and Marathon Navigator, but I want a date display which they apparently lack.... All help sincerely appreciated!

mrorange,
My 590, bought from countycomm.com a year ago, has tritum markers at the hour markers with orange at the 12 o'clock. I bought the 590 for the same reason of wanting the date feature comparing to the Navigator. It is not quite as bright as the luminox Navy Seal, but is highly visible in the dark. It has held up extremely well and seen lots of wear in adverse conditions. It has been on multiple field deployments. The only real damage is a small gouge in the polymere case. Keep in mind the new Marathon's no longer use tritium, but a product called maraglow. I have no idea how well this works. Now the price on my 590 was much less when I bought it so that was also a deciding factor. Hope this is helpful. Feel free to pm or e-mail me.

I have both the SANDY 590 and Stainless Steel Navigator, They are both good watches, but I definitely prefer the Navigator. The Tritium markers on the Navigator are noticeably brighter than the SANDY.

The SANDY will allow you to use a conventional watch band, where the pins on the Stainless Steel Navigator are not removeable [if that makes a difference to you]. The SANDY is also less expensive if that makes a difference to you.

Well, I have been torn between a Navigator and a Luminox 3001(SEALS watch), so....... I ordered both! When Bill Yao at Mark II Watches is accepting work again in August I will send the 3001 to him to have the dial face replaced to match the Navigator. The factory face on the Luminox is just plain tacky. I also have a 22mm NATO band enroute from Howard Marx at Westcoastime for the 3001. I got the Navigator from "this_is_NASCAR" (thanks Ray!). I'll let everyone know which one I like better when they arrive and try to post pics showing them together.
