Does anyone know what the ah rating is on the original streamlight ultrastinger batt?

I know it's basically 5 c cells (nicad) and I'm wondering if it would be worth making my own with 5 9000mah eBay batts. I'm sure the 9000 is exaggerated a bit but it has to be more than the stock battery pack, right?

And finally, will nimh batteries charge fine in a nicad charger cradle that comes with the streamlight batteries?

Original NiCad US battery is rated 1800mAh and run time is about an hour.
Its made of 5 Sub "C" and maximum capacity available in MiMH cell is 5000mAh
There is no 9000mAh cells or battery pack at that size and chemistry. Those numbers are false advertizing.
You can perfectly recharge NiMH battery pack in original NiCad charger but charging time will be longer and you shouldn't overcharge them. Another word, you should know approximately how much charging needed and recharge accordingly.
BTW, charging rate of stock (not fast charger) is about 180mA

I've rebuilt several Ultrastinger batteries but have found it not worth the effort. They have a unique design and the labor involved does not make it practical for me. They worked fine using NiCad sub-c batteries, just not worth the effort. Nimh batteries don't like to be trickle-charged. Nicads thrive on it.

So pretty much, the finally answer would be that it's not worth it?

How about maybe building my own LED drop in that will give me an output of roughly 250Lm but with a longer runtime? What's the wattage on the original bulb?
