Hi all,

I have a LuxV HD45 and was wondering wether the converter will fry a Seul. I understand the Vf differences between the 2.

My thinking goes that if the circut is current regulated then the Vf will be set by the led. Is this right?

For the LuxV configuration there is a step up converter to boost the battery voltage to 7-8V needed to drive the LuxV.

For a Seoul you will need a step down converter in place of the step up converter. Putting a Seoul in place of the LuxV will most likely fry the LED or converter.

LuxV uses a NewBB boost converter.

Lux3 configuraitons used the DBx2.

Cheers Wane, Looks like it will be left as is untill Lumileds comes out with their next gen Lux V's

As a point of interest, have you experimented with the Seul leds in the HD45 and how does it go.

Been looking at that HD45 Lux III on the shop for a while now with an eye towards a Seoul P4 transplant.

Wayne, how efficient is the DBx2? I notice it says that it will run off 2x123. Does this use a similar setup as the Downboy but with two stage or is this converter of a more efficient synchronous switcher design?
