Question (technical) on Lighvision 5mW vs 50mW

I have a 5mW Lightvision and modded it to about 15-20mW following the corona mod.

Now, a couple of days ago, I saw a board from a Lightvision 50mW. It looks to me that the only difference between the 5mW and 50mW is a couple of different SMT resistors. (a post by 'firefly' on greenlasers.co.uk forum) The 50mW draws about 290 mA. I have not measured yet how much my pointer draws, but I have a very strong feeling that it is just the exact same diode in both lasers only driven by a different board.

Could I be right or is a 50mW laser really using a differnt diode?

My guess is the 50mw one is using no IR filter, or a low quality one. Although, it could be using a higher powered diode with better MCA. Who knows? :huh2:
