I want to know.

How many lumens you need to blind somone.

How many lumens to see a faint beam in the sky,a visable beam, a ok beam,a good beam, a great beam and a BRIGHT beam.

How manh lumens so light up somthing 30 metres away.

How many lumens to temp blind somone.

How many lumens to hit the clouds, how many lumens to auctelly see LIGHT on them!

Is this a good flashlight?

ouch! that's allot of questions.
toss in a "please" at least!

Your question should be reworded with "lux" instead of lumens, as lumen is total output, whereas lux is lumen/meter.

About the fenix..
what flashlights have you been using?
If you're upgrading from a minimag to a LED fenix.. you'll be blown away ;)
Fenix lights are generally decent quality, and if something goes wrong, 4sevens will fix it!

Question time!

Blinding: uh... I don't think there are lights that will permanently blind someone that easily... lasers, yes, lights, unlikely.

Beam: depends on light pollution, dust, fog, etc, it also depends on how focused the light is.. which is basically what flux is.. higher flux, more focused.

Temp Blinding: Depends if their eyes are dark adapted or not.... of course, also depends on flux..

Clouds:.. HID lights are generally better at doing so. (extreme high flux lights, too)

I don't really know the exact numbers or measurements, but just wanted to give you a general idea.

Let me make it simpler, what could this flashlight do?

:welcome:

As it says on the Fenix store web site

The Fenix L2D CE is digitally regulated and digitally controlled. It has two output modes which produce a total of six levels of output. These modes not only allow the user to select the best compromise between brightness and runtime for any given task, but they also help to aid in an emergency. If you're looking for solid reliability, digitally-regulated brightness, and compact size, this Fenix is for you.

Norm

Doesn't say if it has a beam in the dark, how far it goes and doesn't a have brightness scale so that didn't really help me mate.

If the air is clean, it probably won't put a beam in the air. If you're in a dusty room then you should be able to see a beam in the dust. If you want to know how far it goes, go search for beamshots. It does say how bright it is, 135 lumens on Turbo. Read a bit and you shall find.

1. Depends on the person and the light. A really floody 1000 lumen light won't blind as much as a 10 lumen laser, which can actually cause permanent blindness. Also a 100 lumen light that causes temporary blindness at night won't do anything in the day time. If the person is drugged up or doesn't care, he or she will still come at you and hurt you.

2. That depends on how tightly the beam is focused, what color and/or tint the beam is, and also how much dust is in the air. A Green laser with much less lumen can be much much more visible then a really powerful spotlight.

3. Depends on how well the light is focused and what conditions the area is in (think fog vs clear). A 10 lumen well focused light can light up a small area at 30 m much more then a 1000 lumen flood light.

4. Look at previoud answers.

5. Look at previous answers. Laser vs Flood light.

6. The Fenix L2D-CE has been recommended since it came out 2 years ago. But if it is good for what you want to do depends on your personal preferences and what you will use it for.

You seem to be asking for lux, and not lumen. Lumen it total amount of light, lux is how much the light can throw. Again, low lumen laser vs high lumen flood light.

The L2D-CE can throw a good distance due to the amount of output. Remember that a normal 2D light has arouns 15 lumen and 800 lux at 1 meter. The L2D-CE(non Q5 or LD20) has around 120 lumen out the front and 2900 lux at 1 meter (that's around 2x the throw, 4x the lux = 2x the throw, 4x the output seem around 2x brighter).

I hope that helps.

To make the best beam in the sky visible from a distance you would need something like the Vector Power On Board HID spotlight, as it has an extremely concentrated blue (6000K) beam which makes it very visible in the air. Warmer color beams will not be as visible as blue. :) This light puts out around 3000 lumens and has a range of over 1/2 a mile.

You just need to get a powerful LED flashlight such as the Task Force "60x brighter" 2C LED flashlight from Lowes ($30) or the Husky 2D 4 watt Tactical LED flashlight from Home Depot ($25). Either of these lights will easily light up objects over twice the distance you state.

A green laser will be best for this purpose. I recommend the Wicked Lasers CORE (which I own). It makes a very bright green beam in the sky and puts a super bright dot on clouds within its range. At 5mw it is fully legal in the USA and has an infrared filter which blocks dangerous radiation. The Wicked Lasers CORE is the only laser that I can personally recommend anyone should get.

Absolutely all of those questions depends on the conditions at the moment. Humidity in the air, atmospheric polution, light polution, lux (not lumens). If it's dark enough with enough crap in the air, ANY directed light will be visible in the air.

I want to know.

How many lumens you need to blind somone.

How many lumens to temp blind somone.

Relying on a light to blind someone (even temporarily) is foolish at best, and fatal at worst. A light is NOT a weapon, and relying on it as such makes for a very bad ending to a day.

Yes, read one of the many reviews on that light here. It has probably been the most highly recommended light for the past 2 years.

The answer to all of your questions can be answered with a simple search and a little bit of time. There are 2 such searches available for the CPF forums. The VB software search and the Google search. Both of them are located at the top of all CPF pages. There is also the Welcome Mat that has a lot of valuable information in it. Please use these resources to find your answers or at least find a thread on the topics to post your questions.
