Hi gang:

I've got a few quick E2E questions. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Right Then:

1) Are the current models of the E2E shipping with the scalloped bezel? (Like the Kl4, etc..)

2) I need pics of it if it does exist.

3) Has anyone ripped out the interior of the E2E head & replace it with a mod? Specifically: Lux 3 and a refector? Or is the head to small?

4) What's the current going rate for them? Any sites that offer a good discount?

Thanks,

Brian

Yes, the latest E2E's are shipping out with the new scalloped bezel. You might can see it in the below pic, the E2E-HA, E20-HA & the E1/E2 Winelights have the new bezel design -

I really don't understand why the scalloped bezels are so popular. Because of more angled areas, the anodizing on these tend to be rather fragile compared to the non-scalloped ones. I have an L4 that looks like s**t and an older KL1 with the non-scalloped bezel that gets considerably more use and it looks flawless. The L4 anodizing is chipping off in all the high spots and the sharp edges in the scalloping, and there are plenty of those on the scalloped bezel. I say bring back the old smooth bezel!

Anodisation whether it is HA or not doesn't like sharp edges really. The usefulness of the scallops is more important to me then cosmetics. My SureFires are used - HA gives the flashlights a fighting chance.

As far as question 3 goes, I know of McGizmo's modded E1e bezel that accepts what is now known as the Ecan + Esink combo with a dat2zip circuit board and a Luxeon (either 1W or III) placed within a bored out E1e/E2e bezel. Yikes, that was a long sentence...

Suffice it to say, the Ecan + Esink combo were all from an original idea from McGizmo - it's shown on Don's own webpage.

How good is the Ecan + Esink in handling thermal issues?

Considering that SF-E Bezels doesn't have any heat sink at all, it maybe good only for 1- or 3-W.
McGizmo even had a picture on a cowled fin expoxied to the SF-E Bezel for improved heat dissipation.

Good question... I suspect the answer lies in the circuit board configuration one chooses to run. The safe, and most efficient (according to Wayne Y.) would be a BB400 or BB500 circuit board with a 1W LS (on a single 123 cell or @ 3v).
