Quick thoughts on 2 4+\'s
I bought 2, one for me and one for a bud I have converted into a flashaholic.
The 2 samples I have are quite different than each other and my LSHP ( the whitest of my white lights except for some freakishly white ones like a DB917 TVOK by Don.)
#200 4+ has a yellowish cast to its whitish beam...sort of a natural daylight color...not at all unpleasant. Its beam provides more medium and close coverage. For instance, searching a corner of a room, or in a closet, the beam covers your field of vision.
#382(?) has a cooler, blue-ish cast, a tighter hot spot and has less bright spill. Perhaps the coolness of the beam provides less illumination b/c of its position on the color spectrum compared to its cousin.
When searching with 382, I have to "play" the light around to visualize things.
382 has a far superior run time vs. 200. When I got them, I popped in fresh SF123's and let them go. After an hour, 200 was not a heck of a lot brighter than an AA....remember, this is a light that keeps stepping itself down.
My LSHP has brighter spill than both 4+'s, but less overall throw.
I have since reprogrammed the 4+'s to match my LSHP in brightness...at that level, the spill on the LSHP is still brighter, although it is a tad smaller.
At level 4(3 up from the dimmest), the 200 is far more useful than the little blue spot of the 382.
So, its's funny.....3 lights, 3 lottery tickets. I cant decide which to keep...I will probly keep 200 and give 382 to my pal as he is less likely to keep batteries in stock....or Maybe I will keep the blue one and run it at higher levels.
Either way, i am still not reducing the number of lights I carry...my Arc AA is always on me. I am not dumping my LSHP either.
I know this was all terribly subjective.
