Hello All,
So I recently decided to purchase an Observer Turbine Scale helicopter from Bergen R/C (http://www.bergenrc.com) and am trying to mount a searchlight on the P/T plate on the front of the helicopter. I'm also mounting a camera, so the light needs to be no heavier than 4-5 lbs (the front mount can only support 10 lbs total). HID/Incan/LED are all options that I'm open to, as long as they're fairly bright. I was looking at the L35 from BatteryJunction. Do you think there's a way I could bypass the stock switch and go for a solenoid-actuated one? Or should I just use a linear actuator to switch it on remotely? Their website says the helicopter is capable of "lifting up to 40 lb useful payload of camera equipment and radio gear. The camera mount is capable of supporting up to 10 Lbs total, including camera, Batteries, and downlink equipment." So If necessary, Couldn't I put an HID ballast and the batteries to run it elsewhere on the heli and just have a wire running to the reflector/bulb on the P/T plate?
Here's a photo of the helicopter, as well as the specifications:
Length: 65"
Height: 22"
Weight: 25 lb.
Thanks for the help!
