RAM memory question

I have some extra DDR2-800 RAM modules @ 1.8V or 1.9V
Could they be installed in a system locked at 800mhz FSB?....{same 240 pin DIMM architecture}

~ This is for my Moms system, so I don't have it here to test. I believe her bios is set to 1.8V

Is the FSB speed the factor regarding installing this RAM??

For maximum performance, the RAM speed should match the FSB speed, this gives you the fastest RAM possible for your mobo.

But that's not the only factor in RAM compatibility; to simplify things, just use an online compatibility checker to see if the specs of the RAM you have will work with that motherboard: http://crucial.com/ , click on "Memory Advisor Tool"

If the FSB speed is 800mhz (200 actual), what would be the max RAM speed?
{My DDR2-800 RAM actually being 400mhz}

Could a FSB of 200mhz support this 400mhz RAM??

I guess I'm trying to use up this RAM, and give her system a boost.

Crucial says their DDR2-800 will work on the system from OP, although
when the RAMs installed by default it comes in at 1.8V
At this V, it's actually DDR2-667.

If I remember correctly, with DDR RAM, you match the total speed to the FSB, not the single-channel speed. So 800 goes with 800.

You can install RAM that's slower than the FSB, but not faster.

Thanks for the input, I traveled a ways to work on her system,
the RAM that was in it was 533mhz

I installed 2GB of 800mhz RAM and it boot without issue...

Her system is listed for 400~533mhz RAM, so she got a nice little boost!
Small gift for her.
