I found some Rayovac 123s in a Navy Commisary a few weeks ago. Only had four...so i took 'em all. Anyway - they were 2.69 each. The Duracell 123s right next to them sold for 3.89 each. The Energizer 123s came in a two pack for 9.99.
I tried these out in my Scorpion and they "seemed" to be brighter than the Duracell 123s. Could SF be using these batteries? That's what i've heard from some CPF members. I haven't done any official tests...but they lasted pretty long. I let a friend use the Scorpion on a night hike once and he came back with it still on! The hike was about a good 45-50 minutes and it was still pretty bright.
I don't know how helpfull that information was but there you go. If you can find em...they should be cheaper than the rest. I haven't found any other suppliers in my area...but since you mentioned Target, i think i'll head on over there this afternoon and check if they are available there.
If you are willing to buy Sanyos for your Surefire lights....then Rayovacs wouldn't be any different. If they are cheaper and are readily available nearby...then buy it. Buy some for me to.
I saw last night that the local Target store had these as well. $5 and change for them (compared to $6.89 each for Duracells). I didn't pick any up - way too expensive for my tastes.
Me too. But I hope that this means the 123 size is becoming more popular and mainstream. Hopefully we will see 8pk 123 Rayovacs for $4.99 soon like the others (AA,AAA, etc).
