Are the RCR123's compatable with older Surefire flashlights?

I've a couple older Surfires, a C3 Centurion, A G2 Nitrolon, and a 6P.. my biggest gripe with these lights is they eat CR123's like candy.. can I swap the CR123's straight up for the RCR123's? :confused:

If not I may just mothball these Surefires with a couple batteries each and forget them...

No. CR123 are 3.0 volts while RCR123 are 4,2 volts. Your bulbs will go :poof:...

If you want to use RCR, I suggest you switch to a LED dropin that can accept an higher voltage.

Yeah definitely not.
2 RCR123 = max 8.4v
A P60 lamp is up till 6v, so it will definitely bust the lamp.
I believe u can get a P90 lamp & it should take 2 RCR123 without problems.
Alternatively, get a LED dropin from Vinh, Nailbender or Malkoff

I knew some of the newer lights will compensate for the increased voltage, wasn't sure on the surefire. I may just sell them or trade them, I'm tired of those overpriced 123's

Is there another rechargeable battery out there that is compatable?

If you're running a P90 in the C3, you can use 2x17500 rechargeable batteries in place of 3x123 batteries.

As for the G2 and 6P, if you wish to stay with an incandescent bulb, look at Lumens Factory 3.7v replacement bulbs and you can run a 17670 battery in place of 2x123.

Of course, a good alternative would be to look into Malkoff Devices M61 replacement drop ins which will work with multiple input voltages (3.8v-9v)

I just went out and looked at my 6P (it stays in the glove box of my motorcycle).. which is actually a "6P LED" says so right on the side :D.. I'm thinking it must be an early model led.. I've had it quite a while... Will it handle the RCR123's?

The Malkoff is a straight replacement, no adjusting necessary.

Surefire's P60L drop in (standard with the 6PLED, G2LED and G3LED) will handle up to 9 volts, so yes, it will handle two RCR123's.

And what about 18650 Li-Ion's.. I see some lights work with either -or... and I have a small supply of those for my TK75.

18650s will only fit if you have a stock Surefire that has been bored out. A factory, unbored Surefire will typically fit a 17670 no problem.
