I've been mulling over the idea of a light bar using the Seoul Acriche ac LEDs for a bit. And I want CPF input, anything is welcome, way out in left field, whatever, have at it.

Here's what I have so far.

3 x AN2214 wired in parallel

Using a 48" long piece of 1.25"x1.25", .125" thickness aluminum channel as a mounting surface. With one led mounted in the center and the other two 16" from the center

Then using 1" x 1/2" pine painted black to cover the ends and as support 16" in from the ends for 1" x 48" (perhaps three 1" x 16" pieces") frosted Plexiglas panel.

The wooden ends and supports would be attached to the aluminum and Plexiglas via countersunk screws.

For a switch I think I would like to use one of the in-line type seen on the power cords of lamps, I think I would like it to be white, so it blends in more easily. I still need a source for this, the Plexiglas and pine aren't a problem.

Let me know what you think,

My $.02....

Given the threads I've seen here, the Acriche seems to be more hassle and pricey when weighed against it's AC/DC advantages. For small projects, dedicated 350mA LED power supplies are cheap and reliable. Just wire the LEDs in series, and plug it in. Done.

Nothing against Seoul because I'm dying to make a project with their high CRI emitters, but 3-4 warm-white or neutral-white Crees would work just dandy.

Not quite visualizing how you intend to use the plexi.

How about the Xitanium driver then? One thing I don't get about it though. Does it automatically vary it's voltage output depending on the # of leds? Also where is a good source for Cree warm whites or neutrals on star?

The plexi thing is hard to explain, it should sit flush inside the aluminum channel on top of the painted wooden endcaps.

You don't need a Xitanium, you just need a MicroDriver4.

I've bough warm and neutral Crees on stars from Cutter.
